First held in 2009 as International Business Week, Global Business Week was established to build public awareness of Barbados’s international business sector and its contribution to the national economy. In 2020, the event was rebranded as Global Business Week (GBW), reflecting Barbados’s ambition to position itself as a global business hub while continuing to highlight the importance of the sector. Staged in Barbados and shared worldwide through our virtual platforms, GBW 2026 takes place from October 18–24 under the theme Resilience: Adapting, Transforming, Thriving. The week comprises a series of events delivered in collaboration with BIBA’s strategic partners, and draws strong participation and media coverage each year.
Global Business Week brings together the global business community, professionals, students, and the wider public across a full week of activities – from the commencement church service and the secondary schools symposium to the careers showcase and the Global Business Conference. There are several ways to take part – as an attendee, a volunteer, or a speaker. Each contribution supports BIBA’s public education mandate and strengthens understanding of the global business sector and the role it plays in Barbados’s development.

The Conference is the flagship event of the week, bringing together local, regional, and international business leaders to examine the issues shaping the global business sector. Across keynote sessions, panel discussions, and workshops (22–23 October), participants gain practical insight into regulatory developments, industry trends, and the strategies driving the sector forward.
Sponsoring Global Business Week connects your organisation with Barbados’s international business community and the professionals, decision-makers, and stakeholders who engage with the sector each year. It is an opportunity to demonstrate industry leadership, support public education, and gain visibility across a week of high-profile events reaching local, regional, and international audiences.
